The CBCS is a coordinated research infrastructure distributed across six Swedish Universities.  All nodes provide expertise in chemical biology to academic groups across Sweden. The KI and Umeå University nodes are the main screening nodes with both assay development and screening capabilities, along with enabling chemistry labs. CBCS Compound Center is located at KI. The nodes at Lund, Uppsala, Linköping and Gothenburg universities serve as access nodes, providing local assistance in assay development guidance. In addition, the local nodes also offer complementary capabilities and services, as described below.

CBCS Karolinska Institutet

One of the main screening nodes at CBCS provides expertise and instrumentation for assay development and screening (BSL-2 and BSL-3) and enabling chemistry support, including medicinal synthetic and computational chemistry. The Compound Center is located here, supporting all nodes and users. Read more and contact…

CBCS Umeå

One of the main screening nodes at CBCS providing expertise and instrumentation for assay development and screening (BSL-2), enabling chemistry support, including medicinal synthetic and computational chemistry. Read more and contact…

CBCS Uppsala

A local access node offering expertise in assay development and screening, as well as morphological profiling using Cell Painting as a service. The Cell Painting experiments are carried out in an automated lab, supporting cell culture work, imaging, data analysis, and visualization. Read more and contact…

CBCS Linköping

A local access node offering expertise in assay development and screening, also in BSL-2 and BSL-3 labs. Screening possibilities are offered on a selection of voltage-gated ion channels and electrophysiological characterization channel/cell lines. Read more and contact…

CBCS Gothenburg

A local access node placed at the Swedish NMR Centre, offering expertise in assay development and screening, also providing the possibility to do fragment-based screens using NMR spectroscopy. Read more and contact…

CBCS Lund

A local access node offering expertise & experience in drug discovery and medicinal chemistry, assay development, and small molecule screening. CBCS LU also offers a novel cell transfection method using an in-house developed NanoStraw technique for gene editing of sensitive cells. Read more and contact…
