Our Capabilities

The Laboratories for Chemical Biology is a comprehensive academic center within CBCS and is one of the largest core facilities at Karolinska Institutet.  With significant experience from the pharmaceutical and biotech industries and newly refurbished industrial-standard facilities, the LCBKI team provide assistance to research groups planning to develop chemistry and chemical probes to strengthen their research.  A central part of our comprehensive infrastructure is the LCBKI compound collection.  This collection comprises over 70,000 small molecules suitable for screening purposes.

As a part of CBCS, LCBKI offers its services to all Swedish academic institutions.

LCBKI can currently assist with the following techniques and tools:

  • Computational chemistry & modelling
  • Assay development
  • Access to small-molecule screening libraries
  • Screening hit evaluation and follow-up
  • Hit optimization
  • Medicinal chemistry expertise

Together with our colleagues within CBCS, our broad network of contacts in business and academia, and our strategic alliances with infrastructures throughout academia in the Stockholm area, we can effectively provide assistance to almost any project involving the development of small molecules as probes or enabling chemistry.
